A beloved Santa Monica boutique and a nationwide overnight charcuterie kitchen, both family-run but built for different moments. When you're shopping for a cheese-and-charcuterie gift online, the local boutiques and the ship-anywhere makers solve different problems, and the right pick depends on where you are and what you need to arrive at the door. Lady & Larder and Boarderie are both founder-led, family-run, and serious about real cheese and charcuterie, but they are not the same product.
What's the actual difference between Boarderie and Lady & Larder?
Boarderie ships chef-arranged cheese and charcuterie boards overnight from our West Palm Beach kitchen, ready to set on the table. Lady & Larder is a Santa Monica cheese-and-charcuterie boutique with a lunch menu, picnic boxes, a custom-board service, virtual classes, the Lady Cracker line, and a select catalog of gifts that ship nationwide. Two family-run, founder-led brands. Two different products.
Lady & Larder was founded in early 2016 by twin sisters Sarah Simms Hendrix and Rebecca "Boo" Simms, originally in LA's Mar Vista neighborhood and now in Santa Monica (with a Carmel Valley shop currently paused). The brand has been profiled by LA Magazine ("Lady & Larder Wants to Make You the Cheese Board of Your Dreams"), Golden State, ABC News, the SoCal Restaurant Show, and Cheese Professor. The shop's positioning is "curated goods plus farmers market flowers" - California-rooted, boutique, with strong LA editorial reputation.
We started Boarderie in 2021 to answer a different question: what would it take to deliver a catering-quality cheese AND charcuterie board, fully arranged, anywhere in the country, overnight, ready to serve? The answer became a new product category. We have been featured on ABC's Shark Tank (Season 14), selected for Oprah's Favorite Things in 2022 and 2023, and named a Food Network Editor's Pick in 2025.
Two founder-led, family-run brands building in the same broad space. The product format is different.
