Edible Arrangements has been the dominant brand for "send fruit as a gift" since founder Tariq Farid opened the first store in East Haven, Connecticut, in 1999. The company expanded fast on a franchise model, peaked at more than 1,200 stores in the mid-2010s, and now operates around 650 locations across North America. In 2020, they rebranded simply to "Edible" and broadened the line to flowers, balloons, baked goods, and dessert boards. The brand is owned by Edible Brands and led by President Somia Farid Silber.
